Aerial view of Vathi bay in Sifnos

On the southwestern side of Sifnos, Vathi spreads around a sheltered bay, its white houses almost reaching the water. Vathi is one of the island’s most peaceful seaside villages. With its sandy beach, tavernas and distinctive little church of Taxiarchis, it offers the ideal setting for relaxed days by the Aegean. Our property is here, just 20 m from the sea and close to the church of Taxiarchis. Our paved courtyard, with sun loungers and parasols for guests, offers space to unwind between swims and walks along the shore.

Our property is a few metres before the Taxiarches monastery, on the right-hand side of the beach. Vehicle access ends at the entrance to the village, a few metres from the beach, where municipal car parks are available. The bus stop is also here, with regular daily services connecting Vathi to the rest of the island.

A few words about Vathi

Vathi beach in Sifnos
Beach

A long sandy beach,
many little pleasures

Vathi has one of the largest beaches in Sifnos, with open areas beneath the natural shade of tamarisk trees and sections equipped with sun loungers. Find your favourite spot and enjoy the sea at your own pace.

Along the shore, restaurants and tavernas serve mainly traditional Greek cuisine, alongside more contemporary flavours. The village also has a mini-market, a grill house and a pastry shop offering Sifnos biscuits and homemade sweets.

Taxiarchis

Vathi’s distinctive landmark

The little church of Taxiarchis, beside the sea, is one of the village’s most recognisable sights. It stands at the end of the small jetty, where sailing boats and yachts often moor.

As space at the jetty is limited, many boats anchor offshore in the sheltered bay. Their white silhouettes and masts against the blue sea complete the scene, creating a striking view of the bay from above.

Throughout the day

From morning coffee to sunset colours

A day in Vathi can begin with breakfast and coffee by the sea. The village cafés are open from early morning until late at night, serving breakfast, coffee, drinks and refreshing cocktails.

In the afternoon, the bay takes on golden-red hues, and sunset is the perfect excuse for another stroll along the shore or a quiet moment on your terrace.

The bus stop is at the entrance to the village. Services are fairly frequent during the summer months. If you prefer greater independence and want to explore Sifnos on your own schedule, having a vehicle will make things easier.
